The purpose of Electrolysis is to damage the follicles
so they can no longer grow hair. Each follicle is treated indivdually.
A sterile probe (about the size of a light bulb filament) is inserted into the follicle at the proper depth and angle, and a tiny amount of electricity is discharged. Then the probe is withdrawn and the hair is removed with tweezers. This entire proceedure takes only a second.
"Blend" electrolysis uses a combination of alternating (AC) and direct
(DC) currents to both heat the tissue and decompose the salt water at
the base of the follicle, providing extremely efficient treatment.
Electrolysis requires a series of treatments over a one to two year period to achieve a permanent reduction of 75% - 99%.
Large follicles that grow coarse hair usually need two or more treatments at four week intervals.
Only follicles that are actively growing hair at the time of the
treatment (in the growth/anagen stage) are effectively treated.
Treatments are given in 15 minute increments and vary in total
duration and frequency, depending on the number of follicles.
